Mark Berube, at 9 years old, was among a dancing crowd of 10,000 watching the late South African pop star Brenda Fassie at Somhlolo Soccer Stadium, Swaziland, Africa. With apartheid still strong next door in South Africa, this concert reverberated on many levels: musically, socially, and politically. Mix this life-defining experience with Manitoban–Quebecois roots, a stylistically diverse musical repertoire, the piano, accordian, guitar and a voice that disarms his audiences, and you have the multi-faceted sound of Mark Berube.

Dan Mangan, we missed you.

Dan Mangan (from Vancouver, BC) has been described as “perfect for fans of M. Ward & Bright Eyes” and has performed alongside Patrick Watson, DJ Champion, and renown spoken word artist Shane Koyczan, amongst others. With several international festival performances to his credit and three Canadian tours, Mangan recently wrapped his second USA tour in under two months (including a hugely successful SxSW performance, Roxy Theater and Viper Room showcase – all to a packed house). May 2007 saw Mangan’s debut in the UK - including an incredible evening at the Ginglik (“one of the Top Ten Local London Bars.” - Independent/LBC Living London Awards) and five extraordinary performances at The Great Escape festival and additional gigs across London - in support of File Under: Music’s official label release of his debut album Postcards & Daydreaming. On top of all of that, Mangan’s debut single “Journal Of A Narcoleptic” was also featured on the May 19th NME Magazine covermount CD. Fresh off the plane from his second UK tour in July, Dan’s incredibly excited to be performing in his dear ol’ home town for the first time since February 2007!
